Gucci Shanghai Dragon Bag to Celebrate the Opening of Shanghai Flagship Store

Gucci Spring/Summer 2010 Catwalk Collection

Last week in the spirit of father’s day, the famous fashion house Gucci came up with its spring 2010 collection, Gucci spring/summer 2010 catwalk collection, which was designed by Frida Giannini. Each season she has honed her point of view, broadened her repertoire, and the company now thrives in her image.

For spring and summer 2010, Giannini introduced an energetic sportiness, with references to scuba and kitesurfing in leggings and parkas that collaged nylon, cotton, Aertex, and leather. The color palette was predominantly white with a look inspired by architecture particularly that of Brazilian Oscar Niemeyer, whose science fiction/fantasy concrete buildings standing stark white against the blue Brazilian sky made for a classic Gucci statement. Suiting saw the signature Gucci jacquard in white coupled with blocks of color, while the jackets were unlined, light and floating, the trousers finishing above the ankle. Among the product offerings in this collection are the Joy handbag in three different sizes, a silk scarf, a soft briefcase, toiletries bag, hard-sided luggage, a trolley suitcase and a duffle bag in two sizes. Giannini has taken Gucci’s iconic webbing and its GG pattern canvas and reinterpreted them in white, shiny GG canvas complemented by bold red and royal blue stripes. The “Gucci Hearts NY” moniker, which uses Guccio Gucci’s iconic signature, has been irreverently stamped across the fabric.

The limited edition range had walked off the shelves by the end of the first day of trading. As the most charitable collection, proceeds from the sale of these “Gucci Hearts NY” bags benefited the Playground Partners of Central Park Conservancy. This donation was used for the maintenance and operation of the 21 children’s playgrounds in Central Park.
