Chanel Classic Flap Bag: All Eyes on You
This gonna be a special post! I will introduce a Chanel classic bag to you. (Well, this is not special, cause I always do, LOL) In addition to showing you this bag, I am pleased to introduce its history and making process. Ok, let’s flap it.
Some people dream of years of owning a Chanel Classic Flap Bag, some already own, and still others think that they are too traditional and played-out. Well, I couldn’t agree less with that third group of people. With lots of finishes, colors and sizes, Chanel’s famous flaps have a little something that everyone can appreciate, if you stay open-minded.
Speaking of its name, let’s start with 2.55. I bet most of you have encountered this number before, but few of you know its real meaning. 2.55 is the category of bags generally that have a flap and chain strap. Coco Chanel introduced this Chanel bags in Feb 1955, so that is where this name came from. Yes, the 2.55 refers to ALL flap style bags including variations of the original. As we all know, over the years there have been many variations to the original design of the 2.55 including the leather or fabric, the chain ( metal or interwoven leather, single flap or double flap), and the closure ( mademoiselle or interlocking CC). Anyway, I just name one of them-Chanel Classic Flap Bag in Black.
Now, let’s enter the making center to see how this classic bag comes into shape. The entire production process takes 180 processes, directly or indirectly involved in the manual up to 6 people. 2.55 bags of a subject required 2.5-hours to complete one. Fist of all, all the leather pieces are hand-cut by Chanel experts, and then sewing, bonding and assembling carefully.
Working from sketches, a range of hand-made mock-ups are produced before selecting a final prototype and deciding on its exact proportions and stitching details. This whole development stage is shrouded in mystery and usually takes around a week to complete. Then out of the 200 to 300 prototypes produced for each collection, the studio selects around 30.
Before the bag can be assembled, the leather must first be prepared. It is cut from the skin either by hand, using a punch, or by computer, and is then machine-stitched, trimmed and finished. This is an extremely precise process, with all dimensions measured to within a fraction of a millimeter.
80% of the total production time is spent on the assembly table, where Chanel’s master craftsmen use their expertise to produce an item of unmistakable luxury. During this process, each bag is turned inside out and back again, because the craftsmen have to make sure the inside is as good as the outside.
And then, prepare the beautiful accessories, make leather clothing chain by hand and wear the chain on the fixed bag.
Mission completed!

Top 10 Latest Chanel Bags-No.3 Chanel Blowling Bag in Stitched Grained Calfskin
Fashion designers excel at monument-building: witness the rise of towers in cities like Tokyo and Shanghai. These multistory shops sell clothes and purses, but they also serve to remind people of the power of a brand in a noisy consumerist world.
Coco Chanel left a real monument to modern bag: Chanel 2.55. What will her inheritor bring to us? Chanel Bowling Bag. Mr. Lagerfeld’s motives, if not entirely innocent, were simple. Chanel Bowling Bag is simple. Pure white calfskin is decorated without any accessory except stitches. Vintage interlaced chain shoulder strap is borrowed from the vintage design in Chanel 2.55 bag. It comes from when the children’s caretakers in the orphanage would dangle keys from their waists with the same type of chains as on the Reissue. That is all. That is Chanel Bowling Bag. That is Mr. Lagerfeld. Forever metallic “CC” logo twinkles on the bag, telling you its long- long story.
Chanel Bowling Bag offers women like Lagerfeld the luxury of concentrating on a single idea. The whiteness of the bag- the white grain calfskin with white thread, the white leather strap interlacing with silver chain strap- reinforced that motion. Lagerfeld was like a fly that dropped onto a leaf and then surveyed all. But the leaf told him everything.
More than understanding the iconography of Chanel, a house that first opened its doors at 31, Rue Cambon in 1921, Lagerfeld knows what the name means in the history of Paris. Unlike many other houses that have disappeared behind corporate facades or disappeared altogether, Chanel still sits like a white-gloved lady on the Rue Cambon. And probably to a great many young tourists who come to take pictures of its famous entrance and the Cassandre-designed logo, the Rue Cambon is Chanel.

Chanel Large Zipped Bag is a stunning look working for you. Since the price of a Chanel bag is high, you should select carefully. As I know, so many fashionistas bought a latest and trendy bag, and then forgot about it. Part of fashionistas even believes Carine’s no-handbag policy finally. That is absolutely ridiculous. Large Zipped Bag is sumptuous and versatile. Casual and easy silhouette matches your gothic, punk or ladylike dressing. Even men can catch it.
Seriously, women’s wear always takes ideas from men’s wear, so why cannot men’s get influence from women’s? Such as a nice Chanel jacket. It is only since men started buying them that they are being made especially for men. So, if you men think this Chanel Large Zipped Bag is marvelous, why not get it!
The white color is so bright that it will stir an excitement on the street. Big stitched Chanel logo declares its nobility and sophistication. The interlaced chain shoulder strap is borrowed from the vintage design in Chanel 2.55 bag. It comes from when the children’s caretakers in the orphanage would dangle keys from their waists with the same type of chains as on the Reissue. The leather pouch is adorable to put coins and keys.
This Chanel Large Zipped bag satisfies the Chanel-o-phile flaunting both tony practicality and classic excess all at once. It is a serious reinforcement of the brand’s eternal attractions.

Ivanka Trump with Chanel Luxury Ligne Bowler

We should all be able to agree on three facts about THE Donald Trump. 1) He is a brilliant business man. 2) His hair is horrible. Let’s just get that out in the open. 3) His daughter is beautiful and stylish, Ivanka that is. I am fairly confident that we can all agree on the three facts above. Over the weekend, Ivanka and her friend were dressed to impress while shopping in NYC. Granted, Ivanka could use a tad extra fabric in the bust area, but her outfit overall was stylishly chic and meticulously put together. Paired with her cream colored wrap around dress, Ivanka toted a red Chanel Luxury Ligne Bowler. Chanel accessories are fashion staples in their own right, designed to be simple and timeless. The Chanel Luxury Ligne Bowler adds sass to an outfit without looking seasonal-trendy, which of course is what any Chanel-clad lady is attempting to steer away from. While Donald may not know when to close his mouth or how to style his hair, he did a great job on his daughter.

New Chanel Croc Biarritz Alligator Bag

Not only was I less than impressed, but also highly annoyed that those behind the curtains and scene named that atrocious mess ‘the most expensive bag in the world’. Give me a break Mr and Mrs LV PR. And give me a bigger break to the suckers who bought it. Although only slightly edging out its “competition” in price, there is a huge buzz behind a Chanel bag that is a force to be reckoned because of its price and beauty. Feast your eyes on the Chanel Croc Biarritz, an oversized (literally huge) Chanel tote designed with black crocodile. Forbes reports that there are three of these in Chanel NYC, two in Chanel LA, and three more wandering around select Neiman Marcus locations. There is a simply understated external zip pocket with a CC silver pull and dividers on the inside. Not sure if the bag can be found anywhere now, but the Chanel Croc Biarritz deserves much more fuss and press and spotlight than the LV bag of horrors. Coming in at $43,150, this bag is sure to be exclusive not only because of the limited quantity made, but also the exorbitant price tag.

The Story of Coco Chanel: Legend of a Fashion Icon
Throughout history, many fashion icons have built their houses on rocky ground. Some have fallen. Rising to the top is the House of Chanel. Commanding attention as a leader in revenue and demand for fashion-conscious women, Chanel handbags—and the designer herself—have stood the test of time for nearly two centuries.
Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel was born in 1883 and orphaned shortly thereafter. Nevertheless, defying the odds, she built a powerhouse of fashion that continues to evolve haute couture into the twenty first century. The trademark “Coco” nickname was bestowed upon her during her singing days in a small Paris café. Coco used her woman’s intuition to choose several men who would help launch her success into the retail world. After opening her fist establishment in 1910, Coco quickly moved into the high-class Rue Cambon, graduating from selling women’s hats to sexy, fashion forward women’s garments. The Chanel clothing line revolutionized Paris fashion, and the way women around the world related to their bodies.
With the release of the little black dress, the House of Chanel exploded with fame. The simplistic design of Chanel’s haute couture was appealing to women who had been bound by corsets and stifled by uncomfortable fabrics. Her easy moving, jersey type garments introduced a casual feel to the most elegant suits and dresses. Coupling tradition with function, the “Chanel Suit” again rocked the industry when it was released in the early 1920’s. Following closely on the heels of these timeless articles, Chanel No. 5 made its debut in 1921, and in 1924 the company launched La Societe des Parfums Chanel. Before the year’s end, Chanel costume jewelry would be lauded by Harpers Bazaar as “one of the most revolutionary designs of our time.”
In 1935, the renowned designer reached her peak, owning several buildings and employing over four thousand people all over France. Closing the couture house and retiring in 1939, Chanel continued to sell perfumes and accessories in her boutiques. “Mademoiselle” (a nickname given by those close to her) came out of retirement in 1955 and made her mark on the fashion world by releasing a revolutionary Chanel handbag. The Chanel 2.55 became her personal signature on the world, infused with many personal references from her life. There was such a deluge of orders that the designer had to decline some of them due to the painstaking methods of construction they required. In 1957, a Fashion Oscar dubbed Coco Chanel as “the most influential designer of the twentieth century.”
The Chanel 2.55 has remained the “classic” Chanel purse throughout history. Its design simplicity incorporates a chain strap woven with leather, and boasts the double C logo that made the brand famous. A Reissue of the original 2.55 has slight differences, including the “mademoiselle lock” and a double-chain strap.
Below are some of the more popular Chanel handbags that are in demand among the movers and shakers of the fashion world:
• The Classic Flap: This classic Chanel purse is distinguished by quilted panels, a leather woven chain strap, and a brass double C lock.
• The Clutch: This subtle, timeless Chanel handbag also makes use of the brand’s classic quilting and double C clasp.
• The Shopping Bag: Hit the city streets with this oversized bag, embellished with the double C icon logo and a chain strap interwoven with leather. Choose from leather and woven textiles. Some variations are equipped with comfort grip handles.
• The Tote: You can’t go wrong with the classic simplicity of this women’s tote. Design features include leather handles, a brass double C clasp, and simple closure. Generous proportions make it suitable for a laptop or work files.
• The Bowling Bag: This trend-setting Chanel purse is popular among young female consumers. It’s available in a spectrum of fashionable colors. Features include classic Chanel quilting, a handsome double C icon, and chain-accented leather strap handles.

The History of a Fashion Legend: Coco Chanel’s Story
A house built on shifting sand does not stand for long – unless, of course, that house is built on the shifting sand of the fashion industry. Today, Chanel handbags continue to generate substantial demand and revenue among style-conscious women, but the designer has a long, rich history that stretches back for centuries.
Born in 1883, Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel built such a house, defying the odds and transitioning from an orphan to a powerful woman who would change the face of Paris fashion again and again over the years. After a brief stint as a café songbird, “Coco” became the mistress to various wealthy men who introduced her to couture and ultimately helped subsidize her lifelong success. Her first retail establishment opened in 1910 as a women’s hat shop, catering to the women of Paris, and within twelve months, she moved into the popular market of Rue Cambon. Her line of women’s garments changed the way women dressed and related to their bodies, creating a veritable fashion revolution.
The House of Chanel became famous with the release of the little black dress, a staple in every woman’s closet even today. Simplicity was the key to Chanel’s revolution of haute couture, trading binding corsets for comfort, and introducing casually, elegant suits and dresses. The “Chanel Suit” rocked the fashion industry with its boxy and timeless look and the House of Chanel became synonymous with class, elegance, and wealth. La Societe des Parfums Chanel was established in 1924 shortly after the release of Chanel No. 5, the company’s first scent. In that same year, Chanel released a line of costume jewelry that Harpers Bazaar Magazine heralded as, “one of the most revolutionary designs of our time.”
Coco Chanel reached her peak in 1935 as an acclaimed designer owning multiple buildings and employing over four thousand artisans and workers throughout France. She retired in 1939 and closed her couture house, selling only perfumes and accessories at Chanel boutiques. But retirement was short lived for “Mademoiselle” (the nickname given to her by friends and peers) and she re-entered the fashion world in 1955, introducing the Chanel handbag. The original bag, the Chanel 2.55, was infused with many personal references to Coco’s life. The bag became her signature, taking Paris, and then France, and then the world by storm. Chanel had to decline numerous orders for the bag due to the intricate artistic process, and “secret” quilting method used to create each one. The designer later received a Fashion Oscar in 1957, dubbing her, “the most influential designer of the twentieth century.”
Throughout history, the Chanel 2.55 has remained the “classic” Chanel purse. Simplistic in design, it has a chain strap, woven with leather, and boasts the double C iconic logo on the clasp. The Reissue of the original 2.55 varies slightly; with a double- chain strap and what is known as the” mademoiselle lock.”
Below are some of the most popular Chanel handbags that continue to generate high demand among fashion conscious women today:
• The Classic Flap: Boasts classic quilted panels with brass double C lock and chain strap interwoven with leather.
• The Clutch: A rather understated, elegant Chanel handbag with the brand’s classic quilting and double C clasp.
• The Shopping Bag: A beautifully embossed double C icon logo graces the front of this Chanel handbag, with a chain strap interwoven with leather. Some shopping bags are all leather, some are woven textiles, and others offer comfort grip handles on the straps.
• The Tote: Classic simplicity defines the elegance of this preferred woman’s tote. The outer envelope pocket adorned with a brass double C clasp, leather handles, and simple closure. Large enough to accommodate files, or a small laptop.
• The Bowling Bag: This Chanel purse is quite popular with young women and is offered in a variety of chic colors. It offers the same Chanel quilting as the Classic Flap, with a contrasting double C icon on one end, and leather strap handles adorned with a chain accent.

The Chanel 2.55: Chic Style & an Air of Mystery
A name synonymous with haute couture means never having to carry your own purse. At least that’s the statement Coco Chanel made when she swept Paris fashion world with the Chanel 2.55 after sixteen years of retirement. Making her re-entrance in society, Chanel decided she’d had enough of losing dainty little handbags at gatherings. A woman with an eye toward the times, she realized that women had better things to do than keep track of a purse. Chanel also had the wisdom to see that like her clothing, her handbags could become class and status symbols.
Borrowing on her life experiences, she combined her passion for style with her own memories, and even early childhood tragedy, to create what would ultimately become one of the most recognizable fashion icons in all of history. Utilizing the idea of straps – a notion previously used for soldiers bags and female bicycle porter’s bags – Chanel created a sensation with her feminized chain straps. The handbag designs were available for evening in silk materials and also more practical textiles suitable for day. Like everything made by Chanel, the purse boasted the “secret” quilting process that was influenced by her appreciation for horse racing. The Chanel handbag would become, and remain, one of the most sought after fashion accessories in the world.
Coco debuted the bag in February of 1955 – hence the name – and her fingerprint was firmly imprinted. She lined the inside of the bag with a reddish/brown material, reminiscent of her childhood days in the orphanage and the color of the uniforms the children wore. Another reminder was the double chain strap. Caretakers at the orphanage would dangle keys from chains worn around their waists to entertain the children. Chanel borrowed the simple but dainty chains from the nuns, stating, “I know women – women adore chains.” The chain straps allowed busy women to secure their purses over the arms, freeing their hands for more important tasks. On the back of the Chanel purse, a secret pocket stored extra money, and more secrets were tucked away inside the front flap that bore the trademark “Mademoiselle” lock. Inside that flap was another secret pocket, where it rumored the lady hid notes from admirers, the most scandalous from Hans Gunter von Dinklage, a Nazi spy.
In 2005, Karl Lagerfeld, who took over the creative design of Chanel in 1983, released the Reissue Chanel 2.55 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the handbag. The Reissue was designed exactly as Mademoiselle Chanel originally created it in 1955. Two chain straps replaced the chain and woven leather strap, and the iconic double C was replaced with the original Mademoiselle lock, so named because Ms. Chanel never married. The Reissue name was intended for the 2005 replicas of the original, but has become the common name for all of the Classic Flap Chanel purses.
Modern celebrities and timeless silver screen stars of the past have made the 2.55 the iconic bag of the century. Transcending culture and style, time and class, the 2.55 has proven to the world that a handbag can certainly be an icon. Carried on the arms of women like Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Katherine Heigel, and Mischa Barton, the Chanel handbag gained instant status. It even commands attention if you aren’t among the Hollywood elite, but one of many women who have an eye for style and fashion.
Often imitated, Chanel’s style continues to command the attention of the fashion industry. Original Chanel accessories top the market in price, but “knock offs” Chanel handbags can be found on the Internet and in busy downtown street markets. It has been said that imitation is the greatest form of flatters, and Ms. Chanel agrees this point: “I would shed tears the day no one copied me.”
